Mariah's new album, Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, is slated for release in Germany on Friday, August 21, 2009.

The lead track from the album, "Obsessed," will be available in CD Single format and released on Friday, July 31, 2009.

Turkish fans Can, Cihan and Arif Can had the time of their lives meeting their idol Mariah Carey for the first time! Below, Can gives us a recount of their unforgettable moment with Mariah at the Antalya airport on Thursday, May 21, 2009.

"Mariah has never been to Turkey before so it was definitely a huge occasion for us all Turkish lambs that she was coming here. But there was this huge problem of not knowing anything about her arrival and schedule so it was all a matter of uncertainty which kinda freaked us all out as the 23rd got closer. After contacting one of our sources at the last minute we learnt that she was indeed arriving on Thursday night despite the general knowledge that she was to be arriving with others on Friday.

After some arrangements and quick flights, we made our way there together with Cihan and Arif Can. Since no one except us, two people from the press and the airport staff knew she was coming, we had our chance of making our voices heard. After speaking with the head security staff and him leading us to one of Mariah's bodyguards, we were promised that we will be given the opportunity to meet Mariah and maybe get a picture together.

Two guys from a media agency were really interested in us, they took some pictures of us (that they still have not shared yet), and asked us questions about how we became fans etc. Then to get Mariah's attention, we quickly designed some signs as we did not have enough time before thinking she'd arrive the day after.

It was past midnight when a guy from the security called us 'you three!' Together with our hands full of signs, albums & singles and cameras, we started running over there until we were told to stop at a line. We waited there for a while while having bits of anxiety attacks as I realized there was no battery left in my camera, then Cihan dropped his camera which did not work until Mariah left (thank God Arif Can brought his). Then we realized a rush at the gate which meant that Mariah was getting out.

And then that moment came, there she was, with flowers in her hand smiling and waving at us. It was a magical moment that we still cannot believe was happening. Then we were called yet again 'you three!' and we made our way near her when we all felt time probably had stopped that moment. We took some photos, showed our signs on behalf of all Turkish lambs telling her that we would like to watch her in a concert in Turkey soon, we had a quick chat, Mariah absolutely loved Cihan's MC tattoo below his knee and told Raychel that they 'should take pictures of this incredible tattoo.' Mariah was so friendly and happy to see us there, she signed my favorite Fantasy vinyl LP, Cihan's EMC² Adventure box and his concert ticket, and Arif's The Ballads CD. As she was heading to her car we told her that we loved the new album title, she thanked us and then left.

Then as you guys all know, she tweeted about us which was another highlight of the evening for us. Overall it was a short but a totally amazing experience that we think we may not come across for a long time."

Our friends from the French Mariah site, MC Generation: Adelyne, Julie, Mark and Karim share their stories of meeting Mariah in Cannes, France.

Adelyne: We arrived at Nice airport on Thursday, May 14 around 7:30pm after Mariah twittered she was landing from London! We've waited where she usually arrives but we soon discovered it was the wrong entrance! When I saw a crowd of paparazzi and fans I knew she was coming soon. She came out one hour later, at 8:30pm. And oh my God, everybody (especially the paparazzi) ran to her to get a picture or authograph. It was awesome and quite violent. We had some flowers for Mariah (photo below). We were very close but unfortunately no one could get an autograph. It was so quick. I was desperate. But I looked behind and saw Rachel and ask her to give the flowers to Mariah. She was so nice! At this point I was happy again because I knew Mariah would have the flowers! Then we ran to our car and tried to follow her car to Cannes, but we lost her! We've waited until 2am in Cannes but she didn't come out that night.

On Friday, May 15th, we arrived at the Martinez Hotel few minutes before 4pm, and thought Mariah would go out to give a press conference. We were very surprised to see her coming out of a car. She was coming back from a previous event and we were not prepared, and too far away! We've waited hoping she'll come out again. She didn't but we saw Rachel again and she said Mariah liked the flowers! We stayed in front of the hotel despite the really bad weather. When she came out at 11pm, we saw her and screamed her name! She said hello with her hand and Nick was with her!

Tired and desperate, Julie and I bursted into tears. We walked from the hotel to the Palais des Festivals. We were in front of the red carpet thinking she might have already arrived. Sure enough, she was there. They played 'Hero' and she was gorgeous! It was the best moment of this adventure, really! Mariah was really shining here in Cannes.



Julie: I went to Nice with five other lambs that I know from the Mariah Carey Generation Forum. After we bought some flowers for MC, we decided to welcome her at the Nice airport. We waited for about 15 minutes in front of the door where Mariah usually arrive from, but we thought it was strange that there were no photographers around. Three of my friends decided to search for another place in the airport where MC could possibly come in, and suddenly phoned us to join them! In fact, after we ran as fast as we could, we arrived at the right place where a lot of paparazzi were staying, waiting for her. Only five minutes later (we almost missed her!), we saw Mariah enter the airport, with bodyguards Michael and Rob, with her pink dress on. She was oh so beautiful with that glossy smile! But the photographers were all around her, pushing everybody, and even one of them fell down just in front of MC! She signed some autographs and got into the car. Michael was very angry and even called out loud for Rachel to get into the car! Just before, one of my friends gave the flowers to Rachel and asked her if she could give them to Mariah; she replied, "Yes, for sure!" She was very sweet!

The day after, at about 10 p.m, it began to rain and Michael, who wore a white costume, parked the car too far from us but close to the hotel door. Mariah went out in her beautiful long black dress and we saw that Nick was with her! Probably because of her bodyguards, she didn't come to see us even if she was smiling at us and saying hello. I was so disappointed and tired by this long day that I cried! Still we went to see her climbing up the red carpet but, because of the crowd, we could only see her on the big screen. But we enjoyed seeing her and were so happy to hear "Hero," we were very proud of her and called her as loud as we could!


Mark: This adventure in Cannes was one of the best moments in my life. We waited for her at the Nice airport and when she appeared... Wow! She was like a bright lady in the middle, surrounded by a myriad of paparazzi! I was behind her and then I screamed, "Where is Nick?" Because of the emotion I didn't understand her answer but it was cool! Rachel was behind me and I said, "Hello, how are you girl?" to her! She is a very nice person.

In Cannes, we spent two days in front of the Hotel Martinez with good and bad results. And the masterpiece of the adventure? When we screamed her name while she and the rest of the cast were walking on the red carpet and going up the stairs! Mariah was definitely the STAR of the night and probably of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival!

Karim: I was with the other lambs Friday, and took two pics of Mariah in the afternoon and then one with Lee Daniels. I told Lee that we are really excited about Precious, and Adelyne wished him good luck.

When the others left at 2am, I decided to stay. Mariah and Nick came back from the Villa Murano around 3:30am. And she was quite tipsy haha! Nick and the bodyguard helped her walk into the hotel. I called her but she didn't come.

On Sunday, I went in front of the hotel at around 11am. I showed up one of MC's albums so she could see me. She did and walked over to me and signed my item! I'm so happy!

After shows in London and New York, Fashion Rocks soon will make its debut in Rio. Marc Jacobs and Versace have signed on as the first international fashion brands to participate and Mariah Carey is set to perform. Officially called Oi Fashion Rocks (thanks to sponsor Oi, a Brazilian telecom company), the two-day event will begin Oct. 23 with a charity dinner at the Copacabana Palace, hosted by Brazilian Vogue, followed the next day by the main event, which will take place at a specially built, 6,000-seat structure at the Jockey Club of Rio de Janeiro.

"We are going to feature four local designers and four international designers," said creative director Jason Herbert, who also worked on the show in London. He added that Christian Lamb, Madonna's stage director, has signed on, and KCD will produce fashion segments and handle international press.

Today's Oprah Winfrey Show had Simon Cowell on the show and they were highlighting music competition programs and talents from across the world. China's #1 selling female artist Jane Zhang sang and when asked by Oprah who her favorite American singer was, she immediately said Mariah Carey then sang a snippet of "Hero" and talked about how Mariah inspired her to be a singer. Simon was there and began clapping with the audience. Jane then said she wanted to tell a story and said she heard "Hero" in a CD store.

In 2005, Jane was one of 120,000 hopefuls who auditioned for a new talent show, Mongolian Cow Sour Yogurt Super Girl. After singing Mariah Carey's "Hero," she was instantly chosen to compete for the title of the next Super Voice Girl. Four hundred million viewers tuned in to see who would take home the title, and although Jane didn't win the competition, she became the show's breakout star. With 15 number one hit singles, Jane's been named China's Best Female Artist three years in a row.

Entertainment reporters Sieraaj and Clayton recount their up-close moment with their idol Mariah Carey in the April 22nd issue of their magazine TV Plus.

Celebrity Adventures with Mimi
TV Plus staffers (and huge Mariah Carey fans) Sieraaj Ahmed and Clayton Morar were thrilled to meet their idol (twice) when she visited Cape Town earlier this month for the opening of Sol Kerzner's One&Only resort.

"She was exhausted at the airport but stopped when I used one of her favourite phrases - 'Stone Winner', Clayton says. "She signed a magazine and was joking with us despite being tired. We wanted a picture with her but heard the next day she's gone straight to a dentist from the airport because she had a massive toothache!"

They finally got their picture as Mariah left the resort two days later. While they waited in the lobby, they saw Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, a sweaty Robert de Niro leaving the hotel's gym, Marisa Tomei, and Matt Damon and his family. Matt spent about 10 minutes walking around cooing to his gorgeous seven-month-old daughter Gia.

"When Mariah left the hotel, there were at least three bodyguards trying to stop us reaching her," Sieraaj says. "But we used another of her favourite lines: "'Mariah, a picture please - for the nostalgia!' She laughed, stopped and told the guards, 'It's okay, let them through. I know these guys are real fans. Come on boys - for the nostalgia!'. Her husband, Nick Cannon, took the pic. I told her I've been a fan since her first single in 1990, and thanked her for 19 years of music. She smiled and said, 'Aaaw, thank you!'"

Ten minutes after she'd driven away, Clayton and Sieraaj were amazed when she posted this Twitter update: "On our way to the airport (lil late as usual..oops) Just met some nice fans from S.A. We took a picture.. 'For the nostalgia' :) inside joke".

"We didn't think we could like her more after 19 years, but after meeting her, and her tweet about us, we know she's totally worth the effort," Clayton says.

Our Argentinian friends also threw a party to celebrate Mariah's anniversary on Saturday, April 4! The party, organized by Luiggi and Emcee, was held at the Disco Piaf Asistieron in Cordoba, Argentina and attended by over 500 fans. It was one festive night for everyone as Mariah videos played on a large screen; and fans danced and sang along to Mariah songs spun by DJ Mac. E=MC² posters and CDs were given away to all attendees. BRAZIL
Over 500 fans turned up for Mariah's Anniversary party in Rio de Janeiro! The celebration was held at Club LeBoy last Saturday, March 28.

The party; organized by Gustavo, Jorge and Daniel; started at 11pm with the Around the World DVD playing on several LCD screens. The fans danced and sang along, trying to reach the high notes with the finger covering the ear. After midnight, the DJs started playing Mariah songs on two dance floors, one with remixed versions and the other with album versions. The songs and videos continued playing the entire night. At 2am, the celebration continued with a show. Following an opening video, a medley of E=MC² songs was performed by the hip-hop dance group D.R.Intro. There were trivia games on stage too. Mariah singles were handed out as prizes and for those who didn't answer the quizzes, lots of CDs, singles, posters, t-shirts, vinyls and "Touch My Body" tattoos were given away. The party ended at 6am.

On Mariah's Anniversary day itself, March 27, a group of Chinese fans, led by Liu Chuan (Leon), held the largest Mariah party ever at The Connection in Cheng Du, China.

It was an unforgettable fun night for over 100 Chinese fans who turned up for the event. At 9:00pm, the festivity kicked off with song and dance numbers by the club performers. Mariah songs and videos played all through the night. There were trivia quizzes with exclusive Mariah pictures and posters given out as prizes. Fans brought some of their collections and shared their love for Mariah. They were also given the opportunity to sing their favorite Mariah songs on stage. Finally, the fans milled around two birthday cakes and gave their Anniversary wishes for the diva.

The MTV UK channels are counting down their respective Top 100 Albums in a special called "Greatest Album Ever" this weekend.

Mariah's albums The Emancipation of Mimi and Music Box made it on the Top 100 Albums lists at MTV Base and VH1 UK, respectively.

Unfortunately, both albums didn't make the final MTV UK shortlist of 27 albums, as confirmed to us earlier, and therefore won't be included in the voting process.

• Mariah's voice was in really good condition. All songs were performed live. The crowd was great, everyone had fun.
• After the concert, Mariah and entourage proceeded to Aqua at 1 Peking Road in Tsim Sha Tsui for an after-party. Mariah left the place at around 2:30am.

They praised Mariah for being down-to-earth and for taking the time to get close to her fans. According to the article, Mariah was very touched that even with the strong typhoon, over 10 media and over 30 fans came to greet her. She kept waving, smiled and signed for the fans.

It says fans were worried that they couldn't make it on time because of traffic jam. Fortunately, Mariah and Nick came out at 8:45pm. Even after a long flight, she was still all smiles and said hello to the people waiting for her. It says an avid fan for 18 years has given Mariah a fanbook, that fans admire Mariah's voice and talent, and that many people didn't know Mariah wrote her own songs.

It also mentions that Mariah will stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Mariah will leave for Macau on Friday, September 26th for a private event at the Venetian. She will stay there until the 29th, come back to Hong Kong, and then off to the U.S.

The article is more or less the same but it says there were around 50 fans at the airport. The flight was delayed for about an hour because of the typhoon. She came out late but when she walked out with Nick, the fans got very excited and wanted to get autographs and pictures. After a long flight, Mariah and Nick didn't seem tired and were pleased to give autographs. After the show in Hong Kong, they will go to Macau in a private jet for a private show. They will leave Hong Kong next Monday.

• The Sun
It says the flight has been delayed for 40 minutes but she spent over 1 hour to do touch up with her makeup and came out at around 9pm with 3 bodyguards. It also mentions Mariah wearing sunglasses, signed items for her adoring fans. Some fans asked Nick for autographs too. It says there were so many fans that Mariah could barely move.

The newspaper reports that because of the crowd, Mariah couldn't take the lift to the carpark and had to walk down the stairs. She got on her car and went straight to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central Hong Kong.

The article mentions the flight number and time of arrival and that it was delayed due to the weather. Her plane landed at 7:39pm. She arrived with husband Nick Cannon and 2 bodyguards, 2 PR and 6 security. 30 fans were waiting for her and she appeared to be very down to earth and posed for pictures with Nick. Then she took the initiative to walk towards the fans to sign autographs.

Meeting Mariah, Come Rain or High Water
Typhoon Hagupit was hoisted to signal #8 and everyone was heading back home from work. It was very windy and raining quite heavily. I was very busy contacting fans to make sure they arrive on time. Then there was this traffic jam that worried us because we knew we might be late.

Fortunately, some fans went to the airport by themselves (thanks to MariahDailyJournal for posting the details!) and they kept calling me to let me know that Mariah's flight was delayed until 7:30pm. Finally, we arrived and newspaper journalists and photographers were there already and when they saw us, they took pictures of us holding signs, gifts, CDs, and everything.

They interviewed some of us, including me, although I didn't want them to take pictures of me. I just showed them my fanbook. The fanbook was supposed to be given to Mariah two years ago at her Mimi concert but unfortunately the show got cancelled.

At around 8:45pm, Mariah walked out with Nick and we all got very, very excited and called out her name. She stopped and posed for a few pictures and quickly walked towards the fans to sign for us and shook hands too!

At this time, people from Universal Hong Kong asked me to walk in Mariah's area because they thought I did great help. Mariah's people said they know me too and wanted to give me an opportunity to talk to Mariah and take a picture.

Mariah was still signing and I was right behind her. Nick was there and saw me so we said hi to each other. I shook hands with him and talked to him. I congratulated him on their marriage. He said it's his first time in Hong Kong, and that they're staying here for about one week.

Mariah turned to me and I said hi and everything. We took a picture of us together. All the newspaper photographers had their cameras on us too. Of course I made sure that I told her how much I love her since the beginning of her career. And then I gave her the fanbook I made with contributions from Hong Kong fans, as well as fans from Mainland China and Taiwan.

The bodyguard said they needed to leave and so I told her I love her and said goodbye. She's on the way to her car and all of us followed. At that point, no more autographs were allowed. She got in the car and had the fanbook I've just given to her on her lap! She said goodbye and left. It was such a cool experience!

We went back to our bus and left the airport. Some fans were already at the hotel and told me that they saw her for a few seconds when she entered the lobby at around 9:40pm but security was tight so they couldn't even take pictures.

Mariah was really cool and really down to earth and she's really good to her fans. I'll never forget this wonderful evening!

Mariah will leave from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport today, September 22nd on board Cathay Pacific flight #CX831 at 2:55pm ET, and arrive at Hong Kong International Airport on Tuesday, September 23rd at 6:50pm HK time.

Chinese fans who want to meet up should plan on being at the DFS Galleria Sun Plaza on Peking Road in Tsim Sha Tsui at 5:45pm on Tuesday, September 23rd. We are now able to confirm that Mariah is indeed slated to perform in a private concert at the 15th CLSA Investors' Forum 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, September 25th.

Mariah is expected to arrive at the Hong Kong International Airport at around 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 23rd and will proceed immediately to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at 5 Connaught Road, Central Hong Kong, where she is staying until Friday, September 26th.

We encourage our Chinese fans to come to the airport to greet Mariah upon her arrival. Be sure to wear Mariah t-shirts, bring signs and anything else to show your love!

According to HK Headline, Mariah will apparently be in Hong Kong on Thursday, September 25th to perform in a private concert for investors and executives attending the 15th CLSA Investors' Forum 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets previously had INXS in 2006, and Duran Duran in 2007, performing at its annual international conference. This year, it will reportedly be Mariah.

Mariah Carey is already happily married to actor and rapper Nick Cannon, but wedding vows and golden rings have certainly not hampered this talented diva from still conquering the music scene.

Having been touted recently as the only artist ever to beat Elvis Presley in having the most number of chart-topping hits worldwide, Mariah Carey was hailed and honored last June 13 in Eastwood City, Libis. This victory party celebrated the smashing success of her newest album, E=MC2. This 14-track album hit gold in the Philippines just eight days after its release, with its carrier single "Touch My Body" effortlessly ruling the airwaves.

"Touch My Body" is Mariah's 18th chart-topper since her musical debut in 1990. The success of this song also catapulted the 38-year-old siren to the Number 2 spotlight in the Billboard records--next only to The Beatles, who had 20 worldwide hits, making them cling on firmly to the top spot. The King of Rock 'n Roll, Elvis Presley, had 17 hits in the Billboard charts.

ROYAL CELEBRATION. The posh victory party was spearheaded by MCA Music Inc., allowing MCA Music artists perform covers of songs popularized by the sultry diva.

Richard Poon ("My All"), Dianne Elise ("Bye Bye"), Chicosci ("Breakdown"), Miguel Escueta ("We Belong Together"), Pedicab ("Heartbreaker") and Zoo ("Always Be My Baby") all had explosive performances that were warmly welcomed by Mariah's avid supporters seated in the audience. Collectively called Mimi Lambs, these fans hooted and shouted as the singers rendered their own cover of a Mariah song plus a song from their own repertoire.

The event set-up in Libis was quite elaborate, with black, purple, and pink balloons lining not only the stage, but also the mini-runway that cut across it. The catwalk was used primarily by models garbed in exquisite timepieces for the fashion show held during the event. In line with the posh arrangements that pervaded the venue, a huge LCD screen was propped in the center and repeatedly played Mariah's music video of her smash hit "Touch My Body."

The event was hosted by Magic 89.9 disc jockeys Sam YG and Suzie, as well as MTV VJ and Bb. Pilipinas World title-holder Maggie Wilson.

ALL HAIL THE QUEEN. Aside from the recent release of the Mariah VIP Card, which entitles the owner to several discount privileges in select establishments nationwide, the soulful siren also released a classy signature scent to match her sparkling personality.

With her own perfume line soon to be available in the market, Mariah joins the ranks of Latina beauty Jennifer Lopez, pop princess Christina Aguilera, and hip-hop maven Gwen Stefani in having a signature fragrance that mimics her vivacious outlook in life.

Labeled M by Mariah Carey, Mariah's newest perfume collection aims to embody her beauty, femininity, and glamour--traits that have always been associated with the singer throughout her eighteen-year career in the music industry.

MARIAH IN THE PHILIPPINES? At the event, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) took the opportunity to ask a representative from MCA Music Inc. if a concert of the Queen herself could possibly visit the Philippines in the future.

"It really depends on her schedule," replied label executive Katherine Choy. "Actually she was in Japan last time and we brought some friends from the media to be with her there," she recalled. "It's really not impossible. If we find someone who's really interested [to bring her here], then, why not?" she said with a smile.

Mandy gives us a recap of what went down at last night's MCA Music-sponsored Victory Party for Mariah's E=MC² held at Eastwood Central Plaza Libis in Quezon City, Philippines.

"The night at Libis was pretty humid while the big crowd was already getting the momentum of Mariah's music infused in the evening air. It was way past 8pm and the night was starting to light up. Fans who enlisted and purchased the first April release of the deluxe edition got the most wanted VIP card to get a red carpet treatment and refreshments. The party came as a surprise too as 'M by Mariah Carey' was literally all over the place. Mariah's perfume was not initially available here after its release and hardcore fans like us had to get our own supply from the USA. It was also cool to know that it is now available at Rustan's, an upscale department store.

Richard Poon performs "My All"

The party was peppered too with tons of prizes of 'M' perfumes and items from sponsors. Five fans also competed to sing like Mariah and went away with perfumes as prizes. The winner got an additional 'M' purple t-shirt. People got touched a lot with dancers and models strutting in a fashion show. Rock bands, upcoming singers and a famous crooner got their own interpretation of an MC song of their choice. David Cook's 'Always Be My Baby' cover hit got replicated by Zoo. Miguel Escueta, pulled a brilliant rock version of 'We Belong Together.' Dianne Elise confessed to have her first performance as an artist of MCA Music and offered a stunning version of 'Bye Bye.' Chicosci, a hard rock band performed 'Breakdown' with a guest rapper and playfully slipped in 'Hero' through their rock song. Pedicab, a rather monotone-eccentric boy band, ran off with 'Heartbreaker.' The show-stopper belonged to the famous balladeer Richard Poon whose range of contemporary hits was superbly interpreted his way. 'My All' may not seem to be a nice pick for a male singer but Richard suavely grooved his voice to this 1998 Mariah hit.

For the night's special surprise, a Mariah autographed The Emancipation of Mimi CD got raffled off and my friend and birthday boy, Mark, clutched the night's ultimate prize. I was a little despondent and bitter that I did not win it but that's okay. I'll just hunt Mariah the next time she comes to Manila.

And to end this festive night, our appreciations to MCA for pulling a festive show like this."

It has been reported in The Irish Mirror Newspaper (4th June 08) that Mariah Carey has signed a deal to perform not one but two live concerts at the Point Depot in Dublin, Ireland in March of next year. This venue is currently closed and under major renovations therefore making Mariah one of the first acts to grace its stage.

This will be the first concert Mariah will have ever performed in Ireland apart from her appearance at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 1999 where she performed Heartbreaker (Remix) with Da Brat and Missy Elliott. The article goes on to say that Mariah is very excited about performing in Ireland as she is very proud that her mother is of Irish decent.

Universal Hong Kong is running a big lucky draw campaign on retail, online and telco platforms for Mariah's new album.

Winners will have the chance to meet Mariah in person in Japan in early June when she goes there for album promotion. This week, Mariah has slipped one position with "Touch My Body" on New Zealand's official Singles chart to #4. However, E=MC² has debuted at #10 on the Albums chart. This is the highest an album of Mariah's has positioned since Daydream.

PHILIPPINES
"E=MC2" gets gold status after eight days
Mariah Carey's eleventh studio album just proves how badly Filipinos want to own a copy of the diva's latest offering. The multi-award winning singer-songwriter's newest album E=MC² reached gold status in just eight days.

According to the Philippine Recording Industry Music Association, the group in charge of certifying record and album sales in the country, an album would reach the gold statusafter selling 15,000 copies of the album or more.

Music fans can enjoy a double helping of diva in Dubai with confirmed concert dates for the world's number one-selling female artist Mariah Carey and former Black Eyed Peas Fergie.

Universal Music has this week confirmed the world-renowned artists will perform at Dubai Festival City with back-to-back concerts on May 15 and 16.

Promoting her new album, E=MC², which this week hit the top of the Billboard charts, Carey will perform first on Thursday, May 15, followed by Fergie the following evening.

Ticket prices have not yet been announced but are expected to go on sale online at either www.timeouttickets.com or www.showbizme.com from tomorrow.

Rebecca Brianceau, of Universal, Dubai, said the label was extremely excited to be bringing two such wonderful artists to Dubai back-to-back. "We are so excited about the concerts and cannot wait to welcome the ladies to the UAE. We are expecting great things on both nights."

The venue holds a capacity crowd of 15,000 and tickets for both concerts are expected to sell out in a matter of days.

Mel Tyler, General Manager of Midas Promotions, has said the people of Dubai are in for a real treat.

Carey is expected to perform hits old and new with a few "extras" thrown in for good measure according to organisers with Fergie singing the songs which have recently seen her rise through the chart positions including Big Girls Don't Cry and London Bridge.

Both Carey and Fergie have performed in Dubai before with Carey singing to a sell-out crowd at Dubai Media City in 2005 and Fergie hitting the stage with the Black Eyed Peas at the Airport Expo in 2006. This is the first time Fergie will perform in the UAE as a solo artist.

Mariah's new album, E=MC², released yesterday, April 28th is available at all Virgin Megastores and music stores all around the U.A.E.

Mariah Carey arrived in central London Tuesday night and literally stopped traffic.

Oxford Street, the busiest shopping strip in the capital, came to a virtual standstill as the singer promoted her new album E=MC².

Police barriers stopped vehicles going past Selfridges as hundreds of fans waited to catch a glimpse of the star.

She said: "It's really cool that they would do this and it's great to see so many people show up."

After the grand entrance fit for a Prime Minister or President, the American star - who arrived two hours late - was ushered inside by store staff and members of her entourage.

Two floors of the biggest department store in the UK were shut down for her arrival alone and Mariah looked in great shape in a tight mini skirt, black low cut top and 4inch black heels.

Of the new songs, she said: "I just feel like getting a lot of these out there to the world. Some of them I wrote to heal myself, some are just party records but they all are very personal to me."

The new CD could put 'Mimi' into the record books. As far as all time US Number One singles go, Mariah is joint second with Elvis Presley on 17. Only The Beatles have scored more with 20 chart toppers.

The singer said she was hopeful of breaking the record in her own modest way.

She added: 'I'm grateful with what I've already accomplished it's not about breaking records to me. I definitely don't want to put myself in any category with historical people who've helped changed the world."

Mariah's career spans over two decades. And at 38 she still looks the same as when she first started out.

"I'm eternally 12 because it's from within," she joked. "It's all about where you are spiritually."

X Factor winner Leona Lewis has been dubbed the new Mariah but the star was quick to shoot down any similarities.

"They've been comparing people to me for the longer than I can remember, I'm just like, 'Whatever'," she shrugged.

"If they're the new me can they come and do my interviews for me or get in the studio and write one of my songs? Seriously though, I love everybody, it's not a competition for me."

New Zealand
An interview with Mariah will air on the show "Cambell Live" on the channel TV3 on April 1st at 7pm.


France
Mariah's appearance on the show "Le Grand Journal" on the channel CANAL+ was pushed back from today and will air on April 9th instead. Mariah couldn't appear live on the show as the press conference got delayed by three hours.

England
In addition to the previously reported appearances on "The Paul O'Grady Show" and "The Friday Night Project" (both airing on April 4th), Channnel 4 in the UK will also air the program "4Music Presents: Mariah Carey" on April 5th at 12:40pm.

Mariah is then set to arrive at a press conference at 6:00 PM. The press conference, to be held at a place called Showcase - under the bridge where the "Say Somethin'" video was shot, will be covered by TF1's Journal de 20 Heures.

Japan
• WOWOW, Japan's largest satellite TV channel, will be airing The Adventures Of Mimi (Anaheim show) on March 21. The station has previously aired the Daydream Tour in 1996 and Butterfly Tour in 1998.

• Japanese R&B singer Double (Takako) has just released her first greatest hits album "10 Years Best: We R&B" on February 6, and the remake version of Mariah's "Never Forget You" is featured on the album.

Debuting in 1998, Double was a sisters duo originally, with Sachiko and Takako. Sachiko passed away from subarachnoid hemorrhage in 1999. This cover version (listen to a clip below) was recorded by Sachiko in 1995 for her demo tape.

Congratulations to Bradley and Cerys for being chosen as Mariah Carey Superfan judges on the new Graham Norton-hosted BBC One talent show, "The One and Only..." which will premiere on Saturday, January 5th at 9:25pm. Both will critique the Mariah Carey tribute act entrant (vying for the "additional" Female Tribute Act) who will be performing on Saturday night along with two other different tributes to compete for a place in the main competition.

UK fans, here's how you can vote on "The One and Only...":
Voting is by telephone only. All the numbers used for each Tribute Act will be given during the programme and also be available on "The One and Only..." website.

In the US, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" finishes its Digital Sales chart run this year at #17, selling 47,926 copies. Total sales for this year alone are at around 266,000 copies and at an exact full total of 866,260.

In the UK, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" drops 14 spots to #20 on the singles chart, selling 11,615 copies. Total sales to date stand at 504,583 copies.

MALAYSIA
"The Adventures of Mimi" DVD is now available in Malaysia. Desmond checked in to tell us that he got his copy from Victoria Music, Atria for MYR43.90 (price valid until February 29, 2008).

THAILAND
"The Adventures of Mimi" DVD was released December 11th in Thailand. The DVD comes with a 2-disc set in normal DVD case plus booklet, not in Digipack and no paper box (see scans below). It can be purchased at any B2S department store; and other music stores. Some B2S stores report that the DVD has been very popular and that they are almost sold-out. In checking with Universal Music Thailand, they said that the first lot was limitedly produced to see the demand first.

This year's Christmas pop charts are set to be the most festive ever, thanks to new rules on downloads, experts predict.

Ghosts of Christmas past such as Wham, Wizzard and Andy Williams are expected to feature in the Top 40 when the latest chart is announced this weekend.

And more Christmas classics may appear because of new rules, said mobile phone firm 3.

Downloaded music has counted towards chart sales since 2005 - but until earlier this year, only songs that were also available to buy in the shops were eligible.

Now, for the first time ever, the Christmas charts can include any festive track from the archives, even if it is no longer in shops.

Insiders expect tomorrow's top 20 to include The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl's Fairytale Of New York and Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You.

An estimated 79 per cent of the 65 million singles sold in the UK last year were downloads.

John Penberthy-Smith, 3's marketing director, said: "As people get into the festive spirit, there's nothing to stop them downloading Christmas favourites from yesteryear.

"There could even be a rush to download a favourite Christmas carol into the charts."

Last year, the song entered the charts at #39 and peaked the following week at #29. This week marks the song's 3rd appearance on the chart as a download single (for a total of 6 weeks on the chart since its first release in 1994 when it peaked at #17).

Meanwhile, a cover of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Swedish Idol 2005 winner Agnes Carlsson and the #5 contestant in the same year Måns Zelmerlöw is being used in a TV commercial featuring the two stars for MQ, Sweden's biggest fashion brand retailer. "M by Mariah Carey" was launched at Tangs Orchard and Tangs Vivocity on Friday, November 30th. The fragrance is available in 50ML for S$97 and 30ML for S$79; and the Moisturing Body Lotion for S$52. Purchase of the 50ML bottle comes with a free gift package that includes a necklace and a miniature version of the perfume. See pictures taken at Tangs Orchard below.

The "M" collection will also be available in all Sasa stores starting December 12th.

Universal Thailand has confirmed the release date of The Adventures of Mimi DVD in Thailand as December 11, 2007. Some stores have already put some posters up to promote Mariah's DVD (see photo on right).

The "M by Mariah Carey" fragrance is currently available only at King Power, the biggest duty free shop in Thailand. It is expected to be out in major department stores in early 2008.


France
"The Adventures of Mimi" concert will be broadcast on Tuesday, December 4th at 8:45pm on the French music video television network, Europe 2 TV, according to the Tele7 TV listings.

Singapore
According to HMV Heeren, "The Adventures of Mimi" DVD, last listed with a November 26th release, has been delayed to December. No firm date has been given.

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" has moved up 32 spots on the UK singles chart to #46 with a single sales (including downloads) increase of more than 57% to 2,822 singles sold.

Although, we don't have exact total sales for "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the moment, the single has sold over 400,000 copies, surpassing the value of its Gold (400,000) certification.

"M by Mariah Carey" is now available at all Faces and Paris Gallery stores in the United Arab Emirates. The fragrance counter manager at Faces in Dubai says "M" is the best selling perfume at the moment.

In the November 2007 edition of the Indonesian magazine, Clara, Mariah's inspirational song, "Hero" is mentioned on "Laugh With Sam" page 178. Writer Samuel Mulia shares with his readers how "Hero" has become an inspiration for him. Below are excerpts from the article.

"Speaking of hero, first thing comes to my mind is Ms. Mariah Carey's song, "Hero". The funny thing is, I never associate hero itself as a figure such as Superman or Joan D' Arc. Even though the theme for this month's magazine is talking about hero within ourselves, not about hero by somebody else's act. This theme tingles me much, thus, I am not counting myself as a hero.

I listen closely to the song "Hero" which is beautifully written by Ms. Mariah Carey herself. Below is the part of the song that I am interested so much:


At first, I could not believe how come I have a hero part inside and hero itself lies in me? I am checking myself out, I could not find it anywhere. Then, I am taking myself to an internist for medical check-up, to see a hero lies in me. My friend shamelessly says, "Take yourself to a psychiatrist, you fool."

Yes, I am finally confident that Ms. Mariah's definition of a hero would be an inside personal mentality. When I am weak, I should positively look inside myself to make myself stronger. I do not think that Gajah Mada as our national hero bravely put our nation together because of his insight of a hero. He did not even know Ms. Mariah's song. Gajah Mada could be a huge hero for his people in Majapahit Kingdom, but never be a hero for other kingdom.

I have been thinking to myself, it is possible that I am a hero? Trying to become a hero, just like what Ms. Mariah's taught me in her song to look inside of me. Perhaps this would be a solution offered by the diva herself to think positively, to take my fears away, or to manage myself from disturbing my neighbor for example, or to stop taking anything that does not belong to me, or to cast away negative things from myself. I am pretty sure Ms. Mariah has proven herself to survive throughout the years in this tough music business. She could not have gone through it all, if she was unable to see the hero inside herself. Then, she would only be a history a long time ago. Ms Mariah, you go girl."

Perth City
• Myer in Perth City has a massive banner hanging from the 3rd floor going all the way down the ground floor - it is huge and completely unmissable! There are "M" displays around the store, including one in the middle of the entrance. And there are plasmas playing video clips of Mariah.

• David Jones in the city has a display and one set of elevator doors is plastered with a huge poster of the "M" bottle! There are 3 mini TVs all next to each other playing Mariah video clips.

• Myer Karrinyup also has added a TV to their display.

Chadstone
• "M" is plastered all over Chadstone Shopping Centre literally. They have a massive banner plastered atop the building overlooking the carpark so everyone that parks there can see it. On the doors of the entrance, they have that see through stuff you see on trams and buses, so you can see her when you walk in.

• Outside Myer, there is a huge banner advertising it, and they also have a booth dedicated to it where a representative hands out "M" samples, ribbons, T-shirt stickers, little butterfly-shaped mirrors and jewelry ornaments for mobile phones.

South Yarra
• A promotional car was spotted driving along Punt Road with the "M" advertising all over it.

Sydney
• At Myer in Pitt Street Mall, there are 3 different massive display set ups: one near the entrance, one where the perfume is being sold and a huge display complete with a large plasma screen showing "Shake It Off" on repeat!

The "M by Mariah Carey" commercial was aired during the recent broadcast of House, MD (twice), Life (twice), Prison Break, and last night during Rove and Australian Idol.

It seems like Indonesian fans need to be more patient waiting for Mariah's debut fragrance, "M by Mariah Carey." An insider from PT Mirabo Ayu, the main distributor of Elizabeth Arden products in Indonesia, stated that the company still has not received any news about the release of the fragrance in the country this year. He said that "M by Mariah Carey" might not get to Indonesia until 2008 and that it could be released by another distributor.

An article in today's edition of the Turkish newspaper, Takvim, claims that a Turkish song has a strong similarity to the Mariah Carey/Busta Rhymes' song, "I Know What You Want."

Emre Altug, a popular Turkish pop singer, released his latest album this summer with the lead single "Kapis Kapis." If you listen to the song closely, you'll realize that it uses the same line of chords with "I Know What You Want." The singer has chosen not to comment on the subject.

But now THESE pictures: the singer with the golden voice looks amazingly delicate and incredibly slim as she's having a good time on the boat of star designer Roberto Cavalli (66) in Capri. Her tips for a slim figure: 1. no balance, 2. nibbling Italian tomato salad (available at her island's favorite restaurant, "Villa Verde"), 3. going out for dinner in an extremely close-fitting dress. From the July 4th edition of the Italian newspaper, Roma: The VIPs continue to appear in Capri. Brief nocturnal appearance of Mariah Carey at Piazzetta. The American singer, frequenter of the blue island, stayed some days inside her yacht at the touristic harbour of Capri. The fans expected her to go out to get some pictures and autographs, but she did not want to be bothered by curious people and papparazzi, and decided to only appear at Piazzetta at night, going to a very specific place: Villa Verde restaurant. She went there with a big group of friends and bodyguards at almost midnight. For Mariah Carey's dinner, who was wearing a tight and short black and white dress, Franco Lembo, owner of the place, did a mix of Capri dishes: pizza margherita, heart-shaped ravioli and tomato salad with fish. Mariah received a t-shirt from Franco Schiano, who appeared next to the table, with the words "Franco with love."

"You gotta believe in your dreams and then become active at realizing them." Mariah Carey seems to be practicing her life's motto right at the moment. For her dream which is to become "a serious actress," the singer has even changed her style. Instead of showing lots of skin, she suddenly wears simple, but elegant clothes. And her plan has apparently been succesful: Despite her movie flops ("Glitter," "Wisegirls"), Mariah has been offered a role by Hollywood star Adam Sandler. In his next movie "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" Mariah is supposed to play herself.

The Russian Silver Old Shoe Awards was held on June 27th. This year Old Shoe mentioned Mariah Carey again, and it was in the "Plagiarism of the Year" nomination, just like last year's. Unfortunately, this year's nominees who copied Mariah's rhythm in their song did not win, but you can compare their song with the original. So, Band'Eros with "Columbia Pictures" was nominated for plagiarizing Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" and Mariah Carey's "It's Like That." As some people say, imitation is the best compliment. Last year, the big winner (or loser) was the song "Black Boomer" ("Chyornyi Boomer") which won in 2 nominations: the Song of the Year (the song everybody got tired of), and the Plagiarism of the Year. The organizers of "Silver Old Shoe" clearly showed that the melody of the "Black Boomer" was a total rip-off of the famous smash hit by Busta Rhymes and Mariah Carey, "I Know What You Want."

Korean reggae duo Stony Skunk will go on a six month promo tour in America, with the help of Mariah's brother Morgan Carey, who is good friends with the group's tycoon Yang Hyun Suk (head of YG Entertainment, a major R&B/Hiphop record company in Korea). Serbian contestant Marija Serifovic won the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the beautiful, powerful ballad "Molitva" (Prayer) last night. This is the first time that Serbia competed in Eurovision as an independent country, and the first time to win!

Marija had her television debut in 1998 on the Serbian TV show, "Za Sva Vremena" where she sang Mariah Carey's "My All." She has always cited Mariah and Whitney Houston as her musical influences. In her interview with BBC, Marija said that her victory was about her singing and not her looks or over the top perfomance. She claimed it was a triumph of songcraft over showmanship, "I like to hear the music, not watch it."

Turkish R&B Singer Idolizes Mariah

Turkish R&B Singer Engin Aktas dreams of a Grammy award and says, "People think my voice resembles Mariah Carey."

Having idolized Mariah Carey and Celine Dion while he was growing up, Engin says it made him really happy when his instructors at Berklee College of Music told him that his voice reminded them of Mariah Carey. When asked about his vocal range and octaves, he says singers who claim to have hit 6 octaves have no clue about vocal ranges; "A piano has 7 octaves total and no one can sing that high. Not anyone in the world. Today Mariah Carey holds the record with a range of 4.5 octaves and nobody has been able to top that."

To celebrate Mariah's anniversary, parties were held simultaneously in three major cities in China: Chengdu, Tianjin and Wuhan on Saturday, March 24th.

Chengdu
Chinese fans from Chengdu, led by Liu Chuan Leon celebrated Mariah's anniversary at Haoledi Karaoke at 8pm on March 24. This marks the second year that the group has held Mariah's birthday party in Chengdu. The party last year even made it to the headlines on Honey B. Fly.

The group celebrated this special day by singing Mariah's hits at the karaoke box. The anniversary cake had the number "17" written on it representing Mariah's 17 #1 singles. Each fan was given a self-made DVD as a souvenir which includes all the 6 music videos from The Emancipation of Mimi.


Tianjin and Wuhan
Parties in Tianjin and Wuhan were very successful. About 20 people coming from MariahCN.com joined the party in TianJin. Reporters from Enorth.com.cn, one of the most famous sites in China, were invited to the party and have posted the news on their site. Many songs such as "Through The Rain" and "My All" were performed that night and the most moving scene was that all members held candles, stood around the birthday cake and sang "Hero" together.


The Mariah Carey fan site, MariahCN.com was established 8 years ago. To date, the community boasts over 9,000 members. It is the largest fan site ever for any international singer/artist in China.

A group of Japanese fans, led by Shino from Love Love Jack and Kotaro from Golden Petals celebrated Mariah's anniversary yesterday.

The fans paid tribute to Mariah's last concert tour in Japan. Shino writes, "We remembered a pleasant adventure tour and paid attention to "It's Like That." Ladine Gets Mariah's Nod

The name Mariah Carey is enough to make any singer or music industry executive quake in his shows. So when Voice of Asia grand winner Ladine Roxas broached the idea of sending the Tagalog adaptation of Mariah Carey's "My All" to executives of MCA Music and SonyBMG (publishers of the song), their reaction was not encouraging. It won't be easy, they warned Ladine. No one dared do it before and Mariah is known for her exacting standards.

But that didn't faze Ladine. She decided to send an MP3 of "Lahat Para Sa Yo," her Tagalog adaptation of "My All" and attached her impressive profile and the English translation of the lyrics. After a month, the good news came. Ladine achieved the impossible.

Mariah actually approved "Lahat Para Sa Yo."

The petite singer has done the country proud again. She has passed the five-time Grammy winner's discriminating standard and Ladine is only too happy to include the song in her latest CD lite, "Here To Stay...Ladine."

Listeners are also giving the song a thumbs up, enjoying frequent airplay over 102.7 FM and 93.9 FM. "We hope the song will set a trend," says Ladine who is crossing her fingers will pave the way for more Tagalog adaptations of top English songs.

"Lahat Para Sa Yo" is one of 10 tracks (five songs, five minus ones) in "Here to Stay...Ladine" distributed by Ivory Records. Other tracks are "Naisip Mo Ba?" "I Will Be Here To Stay," "Just Can't Help Fallin," and "All of My Life." Minus ones of each of the aforesaid songs round up the album.

Mariah Carey used to wear the same pair of shoes for the whole year when she was a waitress, but now she is having trouble choosing one. Being considered as world's one of most beautiful women, American singer Mariah Carey opened the doors of her New York apartment with 8 rooms, to Hello magazine. In the 15 million dollar house of the 36 year-old singer, the first thing that one notices is the room that is dedicated to her shoes. The room consists of over 1000 shoes that are arranged by their colours and are climate-controlled like the closets. Mariah chooses what shoes to wear by the help of fashion designers. She says; "I used to be a waitress before I was famous. There was a time when I only had one pair of shoes. Shoes have become a passion of mine."

All shoes in Mariah's closet are from famous designers like Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Dolce&Gabanna and Versace and are worth at least $1000."

Mariah Carey, 37 years old, is on the cover of Playboy March issue. But she is not naked. She wears a low-necked swimsuit, showing a surprising body for a woman which 5 years ago touched bottom physically and mentally.

After being one of the most loved singers of the 90's, in 2001 she had a breakdown that sent her to the hospital. Her rebirth happened two years ago, thanks to the success of The Emancipation of Mimi, the R&B album with autobiographical lyrics that contains the most listened to "We Belong Together" and that counted 6 platinum records and 3 Grammies. We meet her in London at the special party organized for her by Pinko, the Italian brand that has chosen her as a spokes model. The fact that she is a diva, it's obvious from the first second of our meeting. In the suite where she's waiting for me, she is lying on a sofa and I have to dribble among pack of flowers and scented candles.

Why did you pose for Playboy?
They told me that it was a special issue dedicated to music, so I thought it would be fine. But then I had to call the minister of our church to inform him and explain to him also that, inside the magazine, there will not be pictures of me naked. My fans would never forgive me for that!
I never thought that you are so bashful. And I didn't know that you are religious and practicing.
I must give everything to God, the gift of voice, my career. I am a very spiritual woman even if I had no religious education. And if you think that my grandmother had a big responsibility at a Pentecostal church while her husband was Catholic, so did my father, when he was a child, he went to two different churches everyday. Moreover, my mother is Irish and she was educated by Catholic sisters. But when I was born times changed. And then my parents divorced when I was little.

Did your mother urge you to do music?
Yes, she also was an artist. The first song I sang was an Italian theme that my mother repeated continuously. I copied her but obviously I was wrong about the pronunciation of words. Anyway from then she noticed my voice and began to take me with her on the stage.
Your success is due more to your talent or your determination?
The talent is necessary, but it is also fundamental belief in oneself. When I was 17, even if I came from a poor family, I was the most ambitious girl in the world. But everybody joked about me, they told me that I was one in a million and I would never have success. My mother was the only one who trusted in me. She always said "Don't ever say "if" but "when."

The most beautiful moment in your life?
This is a good moment, but maybe the best was when I divorced from my husband and I recovered my freedom.
And the worst one?
The beginning was very difficult, because we had nothing and I couldn't bear the idea of remaining poor for the rest of my life.
I thought you would have said 6 years ago, when you had a breakdown. What happened?
I worked too much and people around me forgot that I am human. I had become a robot. I came out thanks to the trust I have always had in myself. In everybody's life there are up and down moments.

Don't you think you have sacrificed your private life for the professional one?
Surely it happened but you can't have everything.
Don't you want a baby?
I don't know if I could condemn somebody to live this kind of life. Being a child of a star can be very difficult.
What do you mean?
Look at me. I'm here, lying on this sofa wearing my Gucci's poncho and two big diamond rings on my fingers, speaking with you in a hotel suite full of red roses. My son could think that this is the real life. But I know that it isn't. I always remember every second of my previous life, when I had nothing. This fact gave me a big ambition.

After the stormy end of your first marriage and of the long relationship with Luis Miguel, do you still believe in love?
I can say that I am more conscious of love risks and I am more protective about myself. It's hard for me to trust in people. When you are rich and famous you never know why men are with you.
Are you in love now?
I love myself, in the right way. In every relationship it is an important start from this presupposition. And then I have to find the man who falls in love with Mariah, not with Diva.
Is it better to stay with a famous man or not?
Once I thought that a famous man could better understand me and so I was oriented in that way but then I discovered that jealousy made bad jokes. It happened that I was with a man that suffered if someone offered a job to me and not to him. But I am not telling the name of this man!

You love yourself and this fact made you flourish again. How is the relationship with your body?
I know that I must make some sacrifices to be in good form. Unfortunately, I am one of those women who, if I take 3 kilos, it seems like I take 10. My face soon becomes plump as a ball.
But do you like yourself?
It depends. Sometimes, the fact that I know that I can't eat everything I want to, gets me nervous. I am on a diet since I was 15.
Are you afraid to get older?
No. If you note, people who are afraid of it get older faster.

Would you ever resort to cosmetic surgery?
I give many attention to my skin, I never get tanned and I always use a very high cream protection. But there are other parts of body, like hands, which reveal the real age. From this point of view, to be a mixed helps me.
Is it true that you are in a new movie?
Yes, Tennessee by Aaron Woodley, it also stars Ethan Peck, Gregory's nephew. I play the role of a woman who is in a relationship with a violent man and she does not have the courage to leave him. I love this project, I'm studying this role for months.
But Glitter was a flop in 2001. Why did you decide to try again?
That certainly could not be worse than that!

Your latest album, on the contrary, has been a big success. Is it true that you write your songs?
Yes, even if there are some people who criticize me for that. They tell me that a real diva had only to sing. But if I had not sat at the piano by my own, songs like "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "We Belong Together" would have never been born.
But, please, will you satisfy my curiosity? What happened with Eminem? Reading the magazines, it seems that you had a hard relationship.
I thought he was a friend of mine but he spreads strange things about me and during his concerts, let people listened to my messages I left on his answering service. I really don't understand this behaviour, but if it makes him happy.
It seems like a jilted lover behaviour.
I never had sex with him. And with this, I hope to close this conversation.

Q Magazine: "Mariah is loud."

The Argentinian Telenueve (Channel 9) News reported on the British Q Magazine's Best and Worst Singers Of All Time List last night.

"When one comes to think about the worst singer ever, one tends to think of a family member. It's not like that in this case, this has nothing to do with our private lives but with the worst singers in history. Can you think of any at home? I'm thinking of one, but I'm not gonna say who, it's not related to this anyway.

Let's see, Q, the prestigious British magazine took a poll on their readers to see who they thought were the worst performers ever. Who are they? Here they are... and there are reasons why. Yes, believe it or not, Celine Dion. Do you remember the Titanic girl? She is said to sing as if she was beating up her own grandma. Now there's Ozzy's daughter, but it's actually Ozzy himself who sucks. Ozzy sings as if he were speaking. And there's Mariah Carey, who is dreadful according to Q magazine. Why is this? Because she is so loud that birds' nests fall from trees. But then there's Elvis Presley, the best of them all, according to Q."

The Irish boyband Westlife are currently in South Africa on a promotional tour for their new album, Face to Face. An hour ago, I phoned in to talkshow "3 Talk" on SABC 3 and got the honor of talking to Westlife. I tried really hard to squeeze Mariah into the question (even though the telephone staff hinted to me not to focus the question only on Mariah but I did it anyway).

Summit Meeting of the Super Divas
What happens when two legendary divas meet each other? Scream tirades, splitting cocktail glasses? No way! They seem to suspend each other's extreme moods. That is what it was during a party in London on the occasion of Mariah being presented as the new commercial icon of designer label Pinko. If there is one thing Naomi can't stand, it would be: only being number two of the big show. Another possible reason why she was nevertheless peaceful might be that she knows that her next big 'blowing off' would directly bring her to jail!

And in China, in Hong Kong, what we do in the New Year, we buy new clothes and I saw you shopping around. Are you yourself a shop-a-holic?
"I'm not really a shop-a-holic because I never have time and also I don't have patience. When I'm shopping, I like to just look at something. 'Do I like it? I think so' and I try it at home later and bring it back if I don't like it."

You have a perfect body and especially your legs. They said your legs are the 'celebrity legs of a goddess.' Do you agree?
"That was a very nice thing for them to say and you know, I try whatever, do the best I can to stay in shape but it is what it is."

This coming year, I heard you are making a new movie. Is that right?
"Yes. It's coming along really, really well. Very excited about it because the film maker and all the people involved, you know, are really passionate about the movie. My part is very opposite of me. I think it's gonna be really cool."

Your Hong Kong fans were quite disappointed that you cancelled your tour last year.
"[Apologetic] Yeah, I didn't mean to do that. That wasn't me but everything has to be planned a little more in advance because it was the last minute that I went on tour so next time we do it in advance and everything taken care of first so I can see my Hong Kong fans 'cause they really mean a lot to me."

Was that a very difficult decision for you to cancel that?
"You know it wasn't really like I had a choice. It was just the way the promoters and people had to deal with stuff so of course, I was sad to not be able to see my fans but next time I want to come and see the fans for as many shows as possible."

In Argentina the news about Pinko and Playboy have been reported a lot although Mariah lacks a label that supports her in the country. Universal Music Argentina does not even send her videos to music channels. Here, her Argentinian fans are the only ones who support Mariah.

In the Mariah issue of Playboy, known for its nude women, Mariah Carey at the last moment decided to pose only in underwear and bathing suit. She didn't want to cause a scandal. "I think a lot of my fans wouldn't want me to do that and that's the main reason I didn't do it," the superstar says who turns 37 years on March 27.

In the world of show business, according to Forbes she is the sixth richest female star with a fortune of more than 225 million dollars. Capricious to the limit, she insured her legs for a million dollars. Now she signed a millionaire contract with Pinko, which also has the services of her friend, Naomi Campbell. "Come on, of course everybody wants to look nice, dress up and try to look pretty."

The dramatic rupture with Luis Miguel is a taboo topic. They say that she suffered from deep depression and intended to commit suicide when the Mexican crooner abandoned her. "In this moment, I can only be in love with life and put things in place."

Mariah said her marriage was like she was kidnapped and put in a cage of gold. "Not everything has been good moments. Some have been good and other bad. But it is what it is. Past is past. They're not there anymore for a reason."

Mariah prefers the company of her dog that is already very famous. It has 5 personal websites on the internet. "Maybe I will have a son, but now I am with my dog Jack."

The Serbian daily newspaper, Blic in its Sept. 17th edition reported about Mariah's Pinko contract. They said that Mariah became the highest paid cover girl in the world, receiving 10 million pounds for the ad. They also reported that Mariah topped Madonna for her Versace campaign.

It is expected that the other Serbian magazines like Gloria, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Story, Joy will also report about Mariah's contract with Pinko with additional photos from the party. There is a Pinko store in Belgrade, in the most prestigious part of town. The store is located at the corner of Kralja Petra Street and Uzun Mirkova Street. My sister and I checked the store yesterday and still there are no Mariah promotional pictures up just yet. A store associate said they will receive them soon!




Nothing new from what has already been reported, but Mariah doesn't get that many mentions in Slovakian news so this is nice for a change. This was from the Sept. 17th edition of the Slovakian newspaper, Novy Cas.

Mariah Always Wears High-Heeled Shoes
American singer Mariah Carey is addicted to shoes with high heels. She wears them continuosly, even she could swim with them. The singer, known for her diva demands, says she can't wear flat shoes but can do anything in heels. "I can't wear flat shoes - they give me blisters. My babysitter used to laugh at me because when I was 12 I would always tiptoe. I couldn't walk flat."

Mariah, 37, also revealed she hopes scientists will have invented a cream to cure old age by the time she needs plastic surgery. "I hope when I get to the stage when I might need to contemplate cosmetic surgery there will be a cream. We're still not sure what's in Botox. I'm lucky because of my ethnicity, I think that I'll be able to live with the lines. But I think aging at all is just horrible."

The German TV channel, NDR will broadcast the documentary, George Michael: A Different Story on March 5, 2007 at 11:45 p.m. As we all know, Mariah is featured in this film and she comments on the British singer as follows:

"My All" has been chosen as one of the best songs of the last 20 years by the Turkish magazine Blue Jean.

The editor of the magazine, Tolga Akyildiz, stated that out of the 20 years of the magazine his favorite cover was Mariah's in 1999 (pictured on right) because they interviewed her which is a big deal.

Nothing new has been reported in the Serbian press, but some daily newspapers like "Kurir" and "Blic" have written some nice stories about Mariah regarding her appearance in the March issue of "Playboy". Here is a translation of the article in "Blic":

The popular American pop star Mariah Carey can be found on the cover of the newest March issue of the men’s magazine. Along with pictures of the singer in a skin-colored bathing suit, the laughing Mariah reveals that she’s shy after all. "I flirt a lot, but people don’t understand, what it’s about. I am, in fact, very shy," says the 36 year-old singer who has sold more than 170 million records since her 1990 debut.

On the cover of the March issue of the magazine which will be available on Friday, Mariah was photographed in a skin-colored bathing suit. The picture’s caption says "Sex and Music". In her career, Mariah has sold over 170 million records around the world and from her biography, between houses and mansions, she points out that she posesses a small piano that once has belonged to Marilyn Monroe and which in 1999, she bought for US$600,000. Before she became famous, popular and rich, she had worked various jobs to keep her alive – as a hostess, an employee at a hair salon, and a waitress.

Mariah’s love life has always been a much discussed issue in American tabloids. For many years, she has been married to Tommy Mottola, one of the executive producers at Sony. They married in 1993 and divorced in 1998. She’s had short adventures with the Puerto Rican singer Luis Miguel, the New York Yankees baseball player Derek Jeter, and more recently, there have been rumors about connections to 50 Cent and Eminem, who supposedly is still after her (even though he just returned to his ex-wife for the third time).
